Obama smokes McCain on space policy, in Florida
John McCain's anti-space legislative history documented here
Today, in Titusville, Barack Obama laid down at least two clear markers:
(1) We cannot allow a gap to emerge that requires NASA astronauts to rely upon Russian rockets to reach LEO. (Especially since John McCain wants to toss Russia out of the G8 - see my recent diary on that).
(2) We cannot lay off the vital Florida workforce. We did that after Project Apollo and the consequences were grim.
More . . .
George W. Bush did declare an ambitious and praiseworthy space policy. He then refused to fund it adequately. John McCain merely proposes to stay that same course.

I wrote about this about four years ago during the Kerry campaign, at Kos. Finally somebody figured it out.

)I never would have described you as a staunch conservative. But then again, I wouldn't describe Glenn Greenwald as a staunch conservative, either.
