Polling the great unwashed appears to have shown a clear consensus: Obama won all three debates handily. Media commentators think otherwise, but they fetishize "strength" -- which is apparently defined as saying mean things to a 72 year-old man. Unfortunately for the pundit class, most Americans don't agree with that definition of strength.

But how much does it matter? Didn't the economy simply trump these other issues?

Palin and the McCain campaign survived the debate. I doubt we'll see much of her again, maybe a few softball interviews and one heavily-controlled press-conference just to give her experience with a press conference. I'll be quoting 538 a bit in this blog:

Bill Maher was on The Daily Show last night complaining that Obama didn't do enough jabbing and counter-punching in the debate. One need only look at Bill Maher to wonder how much jabbing and counter-punching he's done in his life...

Personally, I don't think this amounts to anything for anyone else in politics -- just means Edwards won't be getting anything significant down the line if Obama wins.
