The "Exotic Rodent" The Brand Manager and the Selling of the Empty Suit

The Obama Brand is premised on two key drivers.

First and foremost, is that Obama is not a politician bur rather a messenger of change. That is the response of the mob is simple and straight forward to every Obama utterance, “Yes. We. Can!”.

Seoond and related, words and principles have little meaning, the campaign is all about personality.

So if there is no substance, words have no meaning and the MSM lacks any sense of balance, how do you win?

Well you set the table for self-induced undermining of the transcendent character, er paper cuts and plenty of them. Because if the campaign can't close the deal, they will have nothing to fall back on.

Update: Paper Cuts The Beginning.

A coalition of military groups is planning a nationally televised town-hall-style meeting with the presidential candidates near Fort Hood, Tex., the largest active-duty military installation in the country. But so far, only Senator John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive Republican nominee, has agreed to attend.

CBS has agreed to broadcast the meeting live from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, Aug. 11. The candidates would face questions directly from an audience of 6,000 people, made up of veterans, service members and military families from the base.

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has not agreed to participate.

Ms. Picard sums it up nicely:

“McCain and Obama are asking to be the next commander in chief,” Ms. Picard said. “What’s a more compelling audience than this, the people that you have asked to maintain our security? It would be tremendous for the morale of this community.”

Well, um, yes. (#102696)

That is the ongoing critique -- that the Traditional Media is personality-driven and has no interest in policy or holding speakers accountable for words that are inconsistent with reality on the ground.

I am delighted by the audacity; a Bush 43 supporter complaining about personality-driven political coverage has the chutzpah of the fellow killing his parents and begging for mercy as an orphan.

It's impossible to debate if people simply hold beliefs that have no grounding in reality.

but more importantly you appear to agree with my analysis. I would like to know where I was complaining, though?

Good point. (#102707)

I should not have inferred opprobrium of an institution which disdains fact.

I often find that people often confuse facts with projections (#102709)

wishing for something doesn't make it a fact.
